Description A professor in the Kent State University School of Art in 1970, Brinsley Tyrrell relates his memories from the time of the shootings on campus. He describes the National Guardsmen who were stationed at the Lincoln Building on Gougler Street where his morning class was held on May 4, 1970. He relates his eyewitness account of the shootings from his position near Van Deusen Hall. He also discusses events that took place in the days following the shootings when the campus was closed: he describes students who came to his house, including one student whose parents wouldn't let him return home. He concludes by describing some of the experiences he had in Kent during the summer of 1970.
