Being Together: Community & Friends

Perhaps one of the most impactful aspects of Tolliver's body of work is the extent to which he documented everyday life among students. He captured candid, informal moments of students hanging out on campus, playing, joking around, socializing, and simple moments of joy as a young person at university. His portraits of everyday life are a moving document of Black student community at Kent State, during a time of acute upheaval and change in society.
