The materials provide information on James Ahern, a member of The President's Commission on Campus Unrest, who visited Kent to give a speech during the four-day memorial observance in 1971. The President's Commission on Campus Unrest, which became known as the Scranton Commission, was established by President Nixon to study the nationwide college and university campus unrest, specifically the shootings at Kent State and Jackson State.
