Dance Students on Front Campus
Title |
Dance Students on Front Campus |
Description |
"In the early 20th century, physical education transitioned from gymnastics (systems of calisthenics or human movement) to sport and dance. Natural dance, as demonstrated here, became a central component of the women's physical education movement, while men's physical education became more aligned with sport. Eventually both dance and athletics separated from their physical education roots, as happened at KSU in 1971 (athletics) and 1995 (dance)." Photograph appears on page 34 of Kent State University Athletics. |
