Kent State's first football team, coached by the head of the education department, Prof. Paul G. Chandler (back right). Photograph appears on page 18 of Kent State University Athletics. Professor Chandler wrote on the back of the photograph, "My first team, 16 boys in school, 12 on the squad. We played 2 games; St. Ignatius College, Cleveland, 7, Kent State, 6; Ashland Ohio College, 6, Kent State, 0. As we got more students we did better. I coached 4 sports and taught a full load. After 3 years I got out of coaching." |
