Caption: "Thousands of Federal Officers were imprisoned in this famous building, formerly located at 20th and Cary Sts., during the war. On one occasion 19 men successfully effected their escape by tunneling under its walls. Was dismantled in 1893, re-erected in Chicago for exhibition during the World's Fair and is now there." |
