[Marc Miller]: My name is Marc Miller, I’m a Senior. I live in Toledo, Ohio. The address is 2357 Pemberton Drive and I was in the vicinity when the shooting took place. I took–I talked to a Guard about five minutes before the shooting started and I was asking him what powers had been delegated to the Guard, and he told me that they weren’t allowed to do anything right now. They were just supposed to be keeping the students in line and he said that nothing could be done about the rock throwing. I started to walk over the hill and all of a sudden I started hearing shots and saw kids falling and hitting the ground. So, I immediately got away from the area. I looked up on the hall–on Johnson Hall and there was nobody on the roof at the time. I heard no other shots except those from the Guard. I’m Vice President of the dorm and I went back into the dormitory and went up to the opening to the roof and it was locked, so nobody could have been up there.

Also, in regards to students throwing bricks and rocks at these Guardsmen, the students were throwing small stones. Nothing big enough to cause any injury. These Guardsmen were helmeted and were wearing gas masks. There were only about ten students at the most throwing anything and about one or two hundred onlookers. These rocks were not being thrown directly at any Guardsmen in particular, they were just being thrown into the Guardsmen. It didn't look like anybody was aiming to hurt anybody. A few students threw back the tear gas canisters but they didn’t land anywhere near the Guardsmen and they weren’t– they couldn’t hurt anybody because these Guardsmen were wearing gas masks.
