Dr. Edward W. Crosby (second from right), with Staff from the Institute for African American Affairs. The Institute was established in 1969 under Crosby’s directorship. Crosby and his wife Shirley had long and distinguished careers leading the Department of Pan-African Studies and associated educational, arts, and social programs at Kent State.
