Description Rolly Brown was a student at Kent State University from 1967-1971. A conscientious objector and a pacifist, he was an active participant in anti-war demonstrations on campus. Brown describes the protest held at the Music and Speech building in 1969 about the university’s suspension of SDS members. He describes, in detail, the events that he witnessed in downtown Kent on Friday evening, May 1, 1970, along with what he observed taking place during that weekend. He relates his account of what he witnessed on Monday, May 4, at the rally on The Commons and events that took place after the shootings.
